Welcome to Zadar
Zadar Croatia, is the inspirational birthplace of great artists such as Juraj Dalmatinac
(aka Georgius Mattei Dalmaticus or Giorgio Orsini), Luciano Laurana (aka Lucijano Vranjanin)
and Andrija Medulic (aka Andrea Schiavone or Andrea Meldola de Hiadra). If Zadar can create
such passion in these artists, think of how much it can create in you!
Zadar, the former Dalmatian capital, is located in lovely North Dalmatia. It's surrounded
by the Dinartic Alps to the East and the azure blue Adriatic to the West.
This city's history dates back thousands of years; today you can find ancient ruins
dotting the gorgeous landscape.
If you are interested in the city's art and culture, Zadar won't disappoint!
Visit the Permanent Exhibition of Sacral Art (est.1976), St. Donat Church (9th century),
the church of St. Simeon, etc... If night life is your "cup of tea," Zadar has some great nightclubs,
discos and restaurants that will keep you hopping till the morning hours. Swimmers, boaters and divers
won't be disappointed, our "blue flag" beaches are rated amongst the best in Europe!
Feature of the Month
This month's fantastic feature is the "Islands of Zadar."
Zadar has a unique island landscape. Some are lush with greenery, yet others are
salt stained and barren. Despite these differences, our islands remain
as beautiful and rugged as its unique residents. We highly suggest that you bring your mask
and snorkle with you because the island water is amongst the cleanest in all of
Europe.
Travel to and from the islands in the summertime is common and easily accomplished.
There are plenty of regular public ferry excursions from downtown Zadar. As well,
there are numerous private charters that will transport passengers to the
Kornati and Zadar's other magnificent islands! Visit the islands for the day and return
to Zadar in time to enjoy the evening.
