The Island of UGLJAN

The island of Ugljan is the garden suburb of Zadar. It's name derives from the an abundance of oil. It's one of the most modern town districts. Once an island of peasants and fisherman, while today it is a part of the town linked with Zadar by frequent ferry connections. Luxuriant Mediterranean vegetation surrounds the small villages. For centuries diligent islanders whose main activities have been the cultivation of olives and fishing. For this, it became known as the "Green Island".
